In February 2026 Clockwise awarded £250 to Coalville CAN as part of the Clockwise Community Grant scheme

Ken, a a founding member and director of Coalville CAN described the organisation and it’s goals:
We attempt to repair just about anything local people can bring in apart from phones/tablets. This has included electric tools, toys, petrol engined garden tools, bikes, audio/video equipment and even a tortoise humidifier!
We run two monthly Repair Cafe’s, one in Coalville and one in Measham. This is a similar idea, but with more volunteer repairers who try to pass on the skills to clients at the same time.
We have a Tool Library, where people can hire items/tools they would rarely use, at low rates.
We intend on opening a “Men in Sheds” type facility in town in the first half of next year. We will be running classes for various skills.
All of our activities aim to reduce waste, and to build a community of repairers and to pass on our skills.
We were pleased to be able to offer Coalville CAN £250 to go towards buying equipment for electronics repairs.
Ken said
“This will make an enormous difference to our team, giving us more tome to work on other aspects of the project”
When you save or borrow with Clockwise your money is invested back into the community. Clockwise operates a Community Grant Scheme that awards local groups and individuals grants for a whole range of items that ultimately benefit the community the group and individual works to serve.
Under the scheme, any community group or individual in need of funds can apply in writing to us for a grant. To apply, the group or individual should be based in Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Coventry or Warwickshire. This can be for a whole range of items; for example, a small piece of equipment for a group such as food banks, community schemes aimed at under-represented groups, scouts/guides or a youth club or a laptop for a low income student. See below for examples of groups we have supported.
